Warkworth Castle

Painted in oils, Warkworth Castle perched above the River Coquet. This was the stronghold of the Percy’s, Earls of Northumberland, built in the 13th and 14th Centuries.

Warkworth Castle

A watercolour showing Warkworth Castle, above the river Coquet in Northumberland. The castle was the medieval stronghold of the Percy’s whose land, riches and position were derived from their unfailing loyalty to the monarchy. The Percy Family hold the Dukedom of Northumberland now based at Alnwick Castle.
