I do like Ibiza, one of the Balearic Islands. Away from the clubs and crowded places it has a certain mysticism of which the Hippies became aware in the 1960’s, many settling there and on neighbouring Formentara.
Es Vedra was the backdrop to several scenes in the movie South Pacific, a massive rock soaring out of the Mediterranean, changing colour at sundown. Painted in watercolour.
Painted in oils, this iconic piece of public art by Antony Gormley, stands some 20 metres high with a wing span of 54 metres, on the approach to Gateshead, just off the A1 Great North Road. In this painting ‘The Angel’ is shown surrounded by winter’s snow at sundown.
