My oil painting of a pride of lions at Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. The background including the two baobab trees is drawn from a photograph. The lions and cubs inserted from various photographs I’ve taken over the years.
These cheeky birds are completely at home on African Buffalo. Seen here on the face and back of a dominant bull with his attendant cows, in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
I photographed this African Buffalo Bull in the Serengeti, Tanzania. He gave me that ‘don’t mess with me’ look, leading me not to hang around too long, afterwards!
I watched this family for a while at the Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. The cubs scragged their mother until she’d had enough; clipped one round the ears and it was after that I took this picture. She can be seen telling them, in no uncertain terms, to behave themselves!
A little scene captured on the Thu Bon River at Hoi An, Vietnam. Painted in oils.
Hoan Kiem is a beautiful tranquil lake right in the heart of bustling Hanoi, Vietnam. It boasts a pagoda in its centre and a very old turtle which some locals believe has mystical powers. It is not unusual to see couples and individuals sitting in quiet contemplation by the water’s side and old ladies doing their exercises.
This painting in oils, is from a photograph taken by my son, who lives in Hanoi.
I do like Ibiza, one of the Balearic Islands. Away from the clubs and crowded places it has a certain mysticism of which the Hippies became aware in the 1960’s, many settling there and on neighbouring Formentara.
Es Vedra was the backdrop to several scenes in the movie South Pacific, a massive rock soaring out of the Mediterranean, changing colour at sundown. Painted in watercolour.
Boulder Beach, near Simons Town, just round the corner from South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope, is the home of a vast population of Cape Penguins.
Photographed this crocodile in the Serengeti, Tanzania
